I send back what is in, what is out, the risks and an order of magnitude. If I cannot hit the date, I say so there.

Short deliveries you can open. I do not vanish for months and come back with a surprise.

It ships, and I stay for the start
Stores, crashes and the first week with users. After that, a block of hours if you want one.
You can hand him a team and be calm about it: people will be coordinated and fine, and the project will ship.
